KTI hosted the Forum on European National Highway Research Laboratories (FEHRL, headquarters: Brussels), which celebrated its 20th anniversary of its foundation in Budapest, on the occasion of the 21st General Assembly.
FEHRL is an international association of 30 national road research and technological institutes. Its mission is to realise and encourage road research co-operation, and to provide up-to-date information in the fields of road technologies and strategies.
FEHRL formerly accepted membership of Israeli and South-African research institutes, and now, having accepted Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA's) membership, FEHRL definitively expanded its previously only-European domain.
One of the most important programs of the General Assembly was a panel discussion with the heads of the European Commission (EC) and Conference of European Directors of Roads (CEDR), where a future „Forever Open Road" program was outlined and widely debated.
Some interested participants visited the M0 „Megyeri-híd", the new-built bridge in Budapest, where they could learn a lot about bridge building technology, its structural elements, and they could enjoy the marvellous view.
