Trends - graphic database
PreambleOn the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the KTI (Institute for Transport Sciences), the graphic data basis "Trends" attained its fifth edition.
This publication includes the latest data accessible by the end of the year 2008, giving again a comprehensive survey on transportation and its environment.
Just like in every year, this time also, the number of figures increased, first of all in the sphere of traffic safety, environmental pollution and noise loading.
At the same time, as a consequence of the expansion of the European Union, now having 27 member states, an important part of the international data has also been revised.
Besides figures developed on the basis of the KTI's research results, the data of many of our partners are presented as well. In addition to the figures prepared using the data bases of the KHEM (Ministry of Transport, Telecommunication and Energy), NFGM (Ministry for National Development and Economy), KSH (Hungarian Central Statistical Office), VE and several other institutions, the Közlekedés Ltd. with its 14 maps has also contributed to rendering our publication more colourful and more informative.
In the present economic environment it is very risky to set trends, and it is very difficult to say, whether the next period of longer or shorter duration will only represent a slight decline in the trends achieved so far, or in comparison with the earlier state, their significant deflection may be expected.
Taking all these circumstances into account, I hope that this time also we can offer our readers a really useful material to read.
