Certification Directorate
The Certification Directorate, as a competent organisational of KTI, performs conformity assessment in the railway sector, as defined in the European Union legislation on the interoperability of the rail system, and conformity assessment (certification) of railway structures and trains and their elements (system components) according to national rules, as a designated and notified body (NoBo/DeBo activity).
In the field of construction products, its activities include the assessment and verification (certification) of constancy of performance of construction products according to the relevant EU and national legislation as a designated and notified body (DeBo and NoBo activities) and the technical assessment of construction products (European Technical Assessment or National Technical Assessment) according to the relevant EU and national legislation as a designated and notified technical assessment body (TAB).
In the case of a major change to the railway system, at the request of the contracting entity in accordance with the relevant European Union and national legislation, it performs an independent assessment of the application of the risk management procedure implemented by the contracting entity in accordance with the requirements laid down and the results of the application, as a designated body (ASBO – Assessment Body).
The scope of the testing laboratory covers the performance of tests (partly with accredited status) related to conformity assessment of construction products and railway products (subsystems, system elements/system components).
For Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) conformity assessment, the Directorate contributes to the development of the legal framework for conformity assessment, and once the legal and technical framework has been established, it prepares and defines the conditions for the conformity assessment activities and then performs the conformity assessment.
