Technical Railway Committee Coordination Office

The Railway Technical Committee (VMB) is the expert body established to develop railway technical regulations and professional resolutions, whose work is supported by the Coordination Office of the Railway Technical Committee.

The VMB Coordination Office is a business company performing research or research and development activities related to rail transport, under the professional management and ownership of the Ministry of Construction and Transport. Based on the authorization of the Minister of Construction and Transport, from March 1, 2023, the tasks of the coordinating body will be performed by KTI Magyar Közlekedestudományi és Logisztikai Intézet Nonprofit Kft.

The Coordination Office of the Railway Technical Committee performs the following tasks in the context of the operation of the VMB and its sub-committees and the coordination of their tasks:

• preparation and distribution of the annual work plan;
• preparation and presentation of the Railway Technical Regulations to the VMB;
• preparing and submitting drafts of order of business, carrying out their review as necessary;
• preparation and convening of meetings and performance of administrative duties;
• performance of contractual and administrative tasks related to the work of experts;
• performing documentation, filing and file management and other secretarial tasks;
• updating and updating the content of the VMB’s website;
• providing the IT environment necessary for the operation of the VMB and its Subcommittees;
• keeping records related to the performance of tasks of the VMB.

The VMB Coordination Office operates the VMB website. The purpose of the site is to serve as an information base for the domestic railway sector, to provide the railway market players and the authority with the information necessary for their operation, be it legislation, European Union requirements or Railway Technical Regulations.
